TROOP 138 - MESQUITE, A SERVICE ORIENTED UNIT SINCE 1945,

WELCOMING BOYS AGES 11-17 YEARS

Our Mission

We believe our program should be just as diverse as its members. It is through that belief that we strive to offer a boy-led program that reflects the interests, goals, and beliefs of all our scouts. In addition we continue to work  to offer a program rich in character-development, growth, and leadership by promoting the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and Outdoor Code.

What we've done

Each year Troop 138 participates in a variety of community service projects within the City of Mesquite. Some of our most recent and notable contributions have included volunteering for events such as Kid Fish, Teach-A-Kid to Fish, Rodeo Parade, Wreaths Across America, Santa Cop, Addressing Mesquite Day, and Trash Bash.

 camping...it's part of our culture

Outdoor programs are a part of the Scouting experience and encouraged by Scouts BSA. A prominent part of our outdoor experience includes monthly weekend campouts as well as week-long summer and winter camp adventures. During these camping excursions Scouts participate in a variety of activities that include leadership building, completing rank requirements, working on merit badges, fellowship, and survival skills. In addition they get great practice in teachings such as the Outdoor Code, Tread Lightly!, and overall a true sense of respect and responsibility for the Earth.

History

Troop 138 was first founded on May 7, 1945, and is currently chartered by First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite. With more than 75 years of service to the community, we are the oldest active Scouting Troop within the city. Our current leadership inherited the troop in 2019 after former Scoutmaster Angela White graciously decided that her tenure as the Troop's leader had come to an end. It is through the dedication and leadership of our parent volunteers and those who have come before us that Troop 138 remains a staple Scouting organization.
